Smithfield Market - Charterhouse Street map view in London

Meat has been bought and sold at Smithfield for more than eight hundred years, making it one of the oldest markets in London. Eighty-five thousand tones of produce pass through the market each year including meat, poultry, cheese, pies and savouries. The prices negotiated at Smithfield directly affect the costs of meat and poultry throughout the United Kingdom.

Recently the market has undergone a seventy million pound refurbishment and is now considered the most modern meat market in Europe. The building itself is a huge Victorian grade II listed building. The name Smithfield comes from the first documented description of the market, described as a 'smooth field'. Edward III granted the site market status in 1327.

Brick Lane street level map views in the East End of London

Brick Lane is a long street in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, in the East End of London. The street runs from Bethnal Green in the north, passes through Spitalfields and is linked to Whitechapel High Street to the south by the short stretch of Osborn Street. Today, it is the heart of the city's Sylheti Bangladeshi community, and is sometimes known as Banglatown[1].

Since the late 1990s, Brick Lane has been the site of several of the city's best known night clubs, notably 93 Feet East and The Vibe Bar, both built on the site of The Old Truman Brewery, once the industrial centre of the area, and now an office and entertainment complex.

Lords Cricket Ground - St Johns Wood Road street view in London

Lord's Cricket Ground (generally known as Lord's) is a cricket venue in St John's Wood, London. Named after its founder, Thomas Lord, it is owned by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and is the home of Middlesex County Cricket Club, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the European Cricket Council (ECC); and until August 2005, the International Cricket Council (ICC). Lord's is often referred to as 'The Home of Cricket'.

Lord's today is not on its original site as it is third ground that Lord established between 1787 and 1814. His first ground, now referred to as Lord's Old Ground, was where Dorset Square now stands. His second ground, Lord's Middle Ground, was used from 1811 to 1813 before being abandoned due to the construction, through its outfield, of the Regent's Canal. The present Lord's ground is about 250 yards north-west of the Middle Ground.
