The start of the workweek will bring flooding downpours and fresh thunderstorms once again in the U.S. Hot weather will scorch the Southwest, while the U.S. Northern-Tier stays in a cool rut.WeatherBug Meteorologist Katie Ferrier has the latest in her exclusive WeatherBug National Outlook video.Destructive thunderstorms backed by flooding downpours will roll across the north-central Plains as well as the Upper Midwest into the western Great Lakes for the start of the workweek. Not only will they pack damaging hail and high winds, but a few tornadoes will be part of the equation as well. Omaha and Lincoln, Neb., Des Moines, Iowa, and Rockford, Ill., could be just a few of the cities hard-hit by powerful thunderstorms later today and tonight. The mercury will climb into the 80s and 90s today.The Eastern U.S. from Maine to Georgia will be just some of the other trouble spots today, while a broad tropical disturbance swirling along the Florida Atlantic Coast will squeeze out heavy downpours and a few strong thunderstorms across the Sunshine State as well. Not only will Eastern U.S. residents need to keep an umbrella nearby, but outdoor plans could be sent indoors. Temperatures will warm into the 80s and 90s today.Meanwhile, late-June sunshine mixed in with a few afternoon showers and thunderstorms along the Rocky Front Range will dominate the U.S. from Texas to the West Coast today.Temperatures will soar into the 90s and triple-digits today. Highs will top out in the 70s along the Pacific Northwest coast, with 80s further inland.
