The Tenerife earthTV camera is located in the Southern part of Tenerife, the biggest of the seven Canary Islands, in the holiday resort Las Américas (between the municipalities of Arona and Adeje). Although this area has the most hours of sunshine and is known for its accessible beaches equipped with all amenities, it also has retained its picturesque villages with its traditional air and natural areas of great interest. The beaches are mostly man-made with imported sand from Africa due to the darkness of the native volcanic sand. In Playa de Las Américas the leisure activity is remarkable, which the earthTV camera shows both by day and night, as the resort area features bars, night clubs, restaurants and a lot of other attractions such as the observation of the colonies of whales that inhabit the waters.
The earthTV camera also captures the Pico del Teide, the highest elevation of Spain and third largest active island vulcano in the world. The Teide National Park was named an Unesco World Heritage site in 2007.
