Il Girasole B&B is situated on a hill, along the road to Pienza, few meters from the Tempio di San Biagio and the cross-roads for Chianciano Terme.Il Girasole has a particularly panoramic position, the only one in the territory, that allows to see Montepulciano and Montefollonico and also the Amiata mountain (the highest extinguished volcano of Italy). It is placed in the Natural Park of the Val d'Orcia, rich of cultural artistic interests; from here you'll be able to see pheasants, hares, roes passing in the below agricultural firm.Il Girasole wants to be your starting point to discover this land enclosed between Valdichiana and Val d'Orcia, from centuries artists, painters, poets and in the last years also advertising directors are in love with Val d'orcia; you will be surely fascinated by the landscape you will find in the old villages, rich of traditions, by the isolated and imposing fortresses that still today seems to watch over these territories, by the sweet hills, covered with vineyards or olive groves, with fields of grain and sunflower and with cypresses..According to these rich landscapes, we have to deal with the riches of the subsoil, that is the many thermal sources of the territory of Siena like Chianciano Terme, Bagno Vignoni, Bagni S. Location
By car arriving from the north:Take the A1 motorway; exit at Valdichiana (n. 28) and take the left turning for Montepulciano - Chiusi.After about 5 kilometres, in Torrita di Siena turn left at the traffic lights and follow the directions for Montepulciano. After about 8 kilometres, in Montepulciano follow the directions for Pienza.At the crossroads known as Bivio di San Biagio go straight and take the SS146 for Pienza.Proceed for 800 metres, after which the entrance to the il Girasole B&B is on the left. By car arriving from the south:Take the A1 Autostrada del Sole; exit at Chiusi-Chianciano Terme (n 29).Follow the directions for Chianciano Terme (about 10 kilometres), go through the town of Chianciano and follow the directions for Montepulciano (about 9 kilometres).In Montepulciano at the crossroads known as Bivio di San Biagio, turn left for Pienza proceed for 800 meters after which the entrance to the Girasole B&B is on the left. |
