It comprises two large and elegant rooms characterised by arched ceilings, floors in slate and marble, and a double row of ancient columns topped by late gothic capitals.The food, inspired by regional tradition, has been revisited according to dictates of Italian high cuisine, and is based on carefully selected ingredients of first-rate quality.The specialities of the house are: fresh home-made pasta (mandilli with pesto), savoury pies, fish (stockfish, "cappon magro" – a fish and vegetable salad) and its famous chocolate cake.

The marvellously quiet rooms, overlooking the charming Piazza Scuole Pie, are all situated on the first floor of Palazzo Cicala: they possess high arched ceilings embellished by rich stucco work and decorations and range in size from 30 to 40 square metres. All of the rooms have a private bathroom.

The hotel is strategically set for tourists and business visitors to Genoa alike. In fact, Locanda di Palazzo Cicala is in the very heart of the historical city centre, opposite to the Duomo. The hotel gives onto the sixteenth-century Piazza San Lorenzo, which is just a short walk away from Palazzo Ducale and the Old Harbour, where guests may visit the Aquarium or depart on boat tours to the delightful towns in the Eastern Riviera, such as Camogli or Portofino.

Please take these instructions with you: the historical centre of Genoa is charming but car unfriendly.Leave the highway at Genova Ovest and take the sopraelevata (raised road) towards centro città (city centre).Follow it till the second exit on the right, indicated as PrefetturaLeaving the elevated road you will find the City Park parking site, where you may leave your car.Getting out of the City Park by foot, you will end up in Piazza Dante, then take the street on your left to reach Piazza de Ferrari and then on the left again to Piazza Matteotti.Now follow the street in front of you, via San Lorenzo, until you reach the Cathedral.The hotel is located at the first floor of the building in front of the Cathedral, near a furniture shop named G. Oliva.It is also possible to reach the hotel by car. Once out of the elevated road, follow the gallery and you will end up in via Vernazza. Go straight on until it bends leftwards and you will see in front of you a big square with a fountain in the middle, which is P.zza De Ferrari. Going on after the traffic light you will see a narrow road with some motorbikes parked, which is via Petrarca. Take this street and turn right and you will be in piazza Matteotti. Go straight and you will see a large street which is Via S. Lorenzo and is a walking area, strictly prohibited for cars. So turn right in via Tommaso Reggio and go on until it crosses Via di Scurreria, then go straight on till Piazza Invrea where you can park for few minutes.The hotel is located at the first floor of the building in front of the Cathedral, near a furniture shop named G.
