Heroes welcome for Chris Hoy and other Scottish Olympic medalists

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Thousands of Scots turned up to the Royal Mile in Edinburgh to give Chris Hoy and his fellow Scottish Olympic meddalists a heroes welcome back to Scotland on their return from the Beijing Olympics. Chris Hoy, sporting all three of his Olympic golds, was joined by fellow cyclist Ross Edgar, swimmer Katherine Grainger and canoeist David Florence as the bus made its way from the Castle down the Royal Mile to Holyrood Castle

Scottish sporting fans covered the pavements along the entire route of the Royal Mile, waving Saltire flags and cheering the Scottish Olympians, who were fresh from a welcome home reception at Edinburgh Castle, where they were greeted by Scottish Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Louise Martin CBE, chair of sportscotland.

Our popular Edinburgh streaming video webcams on the Edinburgh Royal Mile filmed part of the victory parade where the Scottish Olympic sport stars were atop an open-topped bus to travel along the Royal Mile in Edinburgh Capital. Unfortunately our video footage of the Edinburgh Victory parade was slightly interupted by a very excited newspaper photographer who slightly `put his foot into it` during the live webcam filming

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Welcome to our live Beijing webcam in China overlooking the Beijing National Olympic Stadium, `The Bird’s Nest Stadium,` in the heart of China’s capital city, Beijing. We have tried for months, to source and arrange a live webcam in Beijing, to feature for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games. At the last minute, on the day of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremony, Friday 8th August 2008, we’ve been able to find a webcam location in Beijing overlooking the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing, China. The special date of the 8th day of the 8th month for the year of 2008 was certainly our lucky date for the team at Camvista. We really couldn’t believe that the Chinese Authorities in Beijing would allow us to install a live `unrestricted` webcam overlooking the Beijing 2008 Olympic Stadium. Great news for webcam watchers who want to catch the party atmosphere at the world’s greatest sporting event, the Summer Olympic Games, live from Beijing in China. (more…)
