Tropical Storm Gustav approaching U.S. central Gulf Coast

Hurricane Gustav is now moving into the Caribbean after leaving a trail of destruction in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. More than 20 people have so far been killed by Hurricane Gustav. After leaving the Haiti area, the tropical storm weakened but it is now building up strength and heading towards Cuba. Already Cubans have prepared for the arrival of Hurricane Gustav by boarding up businesses and homes.

Hurricane weather experts are now predicting that Hurricane Gustav might then head for the U.S. central Gulf coast by Monday 1st Septemer, Labor Day. Officials in New Orleans, which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, 3 years ago, are already setting up Emergency procedures should Tropical Storm Gustav hit the Louisiana city.

Residents living along the Guilf coast from Texas to Florida should watch very carefully the track of Hurricane Gustav very carefully and begin prelimenary preparations should the Gustav storm hits the Gulf coast. The winds could become a major 111-plus mph Hurricane

Hurricane Gustav approaches south coast of Haiti

The second Hurricane of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season, Hurricane Gustav is building up strength as it approaches the south coast of Haiti. Hurricane Gustav is then expected to makes its way towards Cuba, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands over the next few days. Hurricane Watch experts in the U.S. are worried that hurricane could become a major, 111-plus mph hurricane shortly as it moves towards Cuba and possibly into the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Residents of all of the U.S. Gulf Coast, Florida to Texas, in particular will need to watch Hurricane Gustav progress over the weekend and into the early half of next week.
