Google Street View car spotted in Edinburgh, Scotland

Friday, September 19th, 2008

We’ve been getting lots of sightings, by Camvista snoopers, of the current locations that the fleet of Google Street View cars are currently filming around the UK. A BIG thank you to all our Camvista snoopers who are kindly reporting their sightings around the UK and keeping us all fully informed on the progress that Google are making with their new Street View photo-mapping tool.

Today, Friday 15th September, a Google Street View car was spotted at 10.20 am on the main Edinburgh road – Queensferry Road. The Google car wasn’t filming as all the camera equipment, on the roof of the car, was fully covered over. The Google car was in a big hurry, as it nearly drove through red lights on Queensferry Road. Must have been in a hurry to drop of the passengers at Princes street for some Friday morning shopping!!

Google Street Live cars in the UK

July 2008 has been a very busy month for Google’s Street View cars zooming around many cities and towns in the UK. By all accounts, their pool of Street View cars, in the UK, are fairly upping their milage, in the streets of many UK cities, and towns, in order to launch Street View in the UK by Autumn 2008.

So far, to our knowledge, Google Street View cars have been recently spotted driving the streets in London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Belfast, Cardiff, Birmingham, Glasgow, Norwich, Oxford, Nottingham, Bristol, Plymouth, Coventry. Google’s fuel budget, must be doing well with the strength of the Dollar, as some of their Street View VW cars have been spotted as far North as Inverness and Ullapool in Scotland. (more…)
