London Trafalgar Square Festival 2007

The 2008 forthcoming Trafalgar Square Festival promises to feature a host of spectacular events over three weekends in August at London’s most famous landmark, Trafalgar Square. For all members of the family, for all ages. This year’s Trafalgar Square Festival, starts on Thursday 7th August at 6pm and finally finishes on Saturday 23rd August 2008. This year’s exciting annual programme will feature spectacular street arts and performance arts and performance set in the centre of London’s Trafalgar Square. Well worth a visit over the three long weekends. All performances are free to watch. If you can’t manage to attend, don’t worry, as you’ll get a front seat, infront of your computer, no matter where you are in the world, as our popular Trafalgar Square webcam will be panning, tilting and zooming around Trafalgar Square to give Internet visitors a flavour and atmosphere of the Trafalgar Square Festival 2008. Trafalgar Square Festival Week 1 of Events Thursday 7th – Saturday 9th August 2008 Starting 1pm and at 9pm

Flying Dragon Circus performers

Taking inspiration from Beijing 2008 in China, venue for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, the major theme for all 2008 Trafalgar Square performances will be Chinese themed events.

Yellow Earth Theatre, the UK’s leading East Asian theatre company will be performing a retelling of Chinese creation myths with the help of puppetry and very inventive stagecraft. Also performing during Week 1 of Trafalgar Square Festival will be the world famous Dragon Circus from Beijing in China. Directed by Pierrot Bidon, remembered for his work with the legendary Archaos circus, the Dragon Circus will be performing `East meets West, boy meets girl.` The Circus show, which is free to watch, will feature acrobats, aerial antics, with cloud swing and flying trapeze, comedy, contortionists and even kung fu Shaolin warriors. A great event for kids, a sheer spectacle, lots of colour, movement, music and pure skills during all performances.

Week 2 of events at the Trafalgar Square Festival. Thursday 14th August – Saturday 16th August 2008 Starting at 1pm and 9pm

`Hip hop meets lindy hop,’ will be performed by London West End hip hop stars, `Into the Hoods,` currently performing at the Novello Theatre in London with great dance and theatre reviews in the London West End. London’s hottest dance company will be performing a newly commissioned dance show for the 2008 Trafalgar Square Festival which will look back to the last time London hosted the Olympic Games in 1948. The new Dance show, for the London Festival, `Hip hop meets Lindy hop` will be a high energy collision between the dance styles and post war optimism of the 1940’s with todays cutting edge of contempoary dance and energy. Another free performance in London not to be missed. On a sporting theme, another performance commissioned for the Trafalgar Square Festival will be a performance called the `Beautiful Game.’ Featuring slow motion aerial acrobatics, with the combination of Asian dance and soccer, the perfiormance will capture all the skills, drama, energy and passion of the `Beautiful Game.` A must to see for all soccer and football supporters at Trafalgar Square.

Week 3 of events at the London Trafalgar Square Festival. Thursday 21st – Saturday 23rd August 2008. Starting at 1pm and 9pm

Superstar leggy lovely `Miss High Leg Kick` will be presenting a theatrical fashion show to be remembered at the 2008 Trafalgar Square Festival during the 3rd week of performances. Starring a cast of characters modelling the styles of everyday London, Miss High Leg Kick will take the audiences on a London journey through the A-Z of famous London landmarks as well as London Zones 1-6, North, South East and West of the UK’s capital city. Spanish dance theatre company, Factoria Mascaro, will be performing the `Garden of Wonders` at the Trafalgar Square Festival. The new dance production displays a playful romp through classical garden settings at Trafalgar Square. The `Garden of Wonders` showcases London’s public open spaces in a new light and features living statues, entrancing pools, the River Thames and Piccadilly’s Statue of Eros. Another free performance to watch in London’s Trafalgar Square.
